PRESS: Duma to delay studying COVID-free QR code bill for transport

MOSCOW, Dec 13 (PRIME) -- A bill on the mandatory use of COVID-free QR codes for inter-city and international transport will be removed from the agenda of the State Duma, the parliament’s lower house, and the matter will be considered by the house’s council on Monday, business daily Vedomosti reported.

State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin said on Telegram that President Vladimir Putin earlier spoke about the necessity of studying whether the transport system is ready for the initiative so that the people’s rights are not limited.

Volodin said the decision to take consideration of the bill off was a result of a dialogue of the State Duma and the government “of the base of taking into account the opinions of the regions and the citizens’ requests.”

The bill was submitted to the State Duma on November 12. The first out of three readings was scheduled for Thursday, when one more bill on the mandatory COVID-free QR codes for public places was also due to be considered. The second bill also raised some concerns.
